North Carolina Man Facing Over 100 Charges Related To Peeping On Children

A North Carolina man is facing over 100 charges for allegedly taking upskirt videos of women and children for at least three years. Authorities began investigating Michael Justin Childers, 32, in December 2020, after a hidden camera was found in a faculty bathroom at Wittenburg Elementary School, where he worked as a janitor.

During the investigation, authorities found thousands of videos taken between 2016-2019 when Childers worked at a Walmart in Taylorsville. While some of the videos included children as young as ten-years-old, none of them were recorded at the school.

"We're still looking into how he was doing it, but he was definitely getting some kind of device close enough underneath the woman and children's skirts to show underneath the skirt," Taylorsville Police Chief Doug Bowman said, according to WSOC.

Childers was charged by the Taylorsville Police Department with 53 counts of felony secret peeping and nine counts of felony indecent liberties with a minor, which are related to the videos that included children.

The Alexander County Sheriff's Office also charged him with 55 counts of felony possession of secret peeping material and two counts of felony secret peeping, which stem from videos he allegedly recorded at a private residence.

Childers is being held at the Alexander County Detention Center on a $1.25 million secured bond.
