Coach Mike Leach Clowns On NY Times Reporter For Face Covering Question

During Mississippi State Football Coach Mike Leach’s weekly press conference, New York Times Alan Blinder thought it would be a good idea to try and shame the outspoken coach about his face mask usage.

Leach is coming off a huge upset win of LSU.

Blinder asked the coach, “You didn't wear a face covering actively for a lot of the game. Why not?"

Leach gave a very classic Leach response:

“well, I tried to remember the best I could. Then I found myself talking all of the time. You know, because I'm calling the plays as well. I was in a constant state of talking. So me taking it down to talk, me lifting it up and it falling down on its own, me remembering to put it back up, I think there were a number of challenges there. But, you know, with a little practice maybe I'll be better this week. How'd you do with your face mask? Are you a pretty good face mask guy?"

Blinder responded, "I do my best."

Then Leach asked the reporter for “a few pointer”.

They Leach kept the trolling going:

“see, I've got that face sock thing. Which isn't bad. It sits right on your neck instead of hangs from your ear. But do you ever find, pretty soon, those things will start to smell bad. Then all the sudden you're going, 'What's that smell? What's going on out there?' There's nothing going on out there. That's your breath. So, I need to practice. I need to practice with it. What do you do when you're talking? Do you have a trigger or something that reminds you to pull that thing back up because I found myself too preoccupied to do it then all the sudden I noticed it was around my neck there."

Finally the coach closed with this:

"I try to do my best with it, but once you're 6 feet apart, I can't help but wonder if some of this isn't an homage to politicians. So. But you know, I do try to stay 6 feet apart in between times, too."

Bet he or any other reporter won’t ask Leach about face coverings again.
